...Ecotourism

We respect nature and people in Africa. It is the great interest of East African Voyage to promote ecotourism and sustainable tourism practices in Africa.

Our cars and tents are painted to suit the environment we work in. Then the cars are small ones which do not rip up the soil. It boils down that we balance your needs on safari with minimal environmental impacts. We do not carry deep freezers but coolers of ice.

We do not use firewood for cooking. In the delicate environments that we operate that cause serious environmental damage. On safari and on the mountains we use gas for cooking and boiling water. We also use batteries and solar energy for lighting.

We take out everything we took in the parks as a way to sustain the environment for future generations. We have mobile toilets that are quite environmental friendly. We dig holes and burry all organic matter since they easily decompose in the tropics.

The huge majority of our staff, directors, owners and contract workers are locals in the countries that we operate. We do this to ensure that they get benefits accrued from tourism activities in their respective countries. Above all, we pay fairly good salaries for the staff and porters and we sponsor them occasionally.

We give back to the local communities in areas that we operate in different ways that include education, and capacity building. We have specific community development projects. Capacity build for such communities is one of our main goals.
