...Kilimanjaro
East African Voyage has been running the highest quality Kilimanjaro Climbs available. The Western Breach is one of the most challenging routes through which our clients summit Mount Kilimanjaro. We experience an unparalleled high summit success rate of almost 98 percent. In addition we offer climbs up the more traditional routes like the Shira, Machame and Umbwe. This makes us very unique.
We are generously and ably staffed, with adventure specialists and assistant guides, with a Wilderness First Responder Rescue certification and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification by the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). We follow an exacting safety protocol, with a First Aid kit, and an oxygen tank at all times. In the meantime we have Gamow hyperbaric bags, the best safety equipment for mountain sickness.
On the mountain we use Mountain Hardware and North Face dome tents, with two persons in a three-person tent to allow a little extra room for gear. You will carry a light daypack, for easy access to camera, water and other personal items. After a day on the trail, your tent is set up by highly experienced camp crew and dinner is waiting.
Count on us for three hot meals a day, plenty of clean drinking water and lots of snacks. Nutritious, high-energy menus are adjusted to meet changing needs and tastes as we gain altitude. With us you will enjoy very good and delicious food.
Kilimanjaro climb does not require technical skills. However, it is strenuous and can be a serious physical test. Literarily, non of our clients are Olympic athletes but mainly people with a reasonable level of fitness. They also have serious determination. Neither age nor physical disability need be a deterrent. Some of our successful clients include as younger as 15 children and as old as about 80 years olds. Others are people with severe disabilities. With our highly experienced trip leadership most of them have climbed with us to the roof of Africa.
The following are main itineraries that will perhaps meet your budget, experience, fitness level and time requirements. For information on how to select an itinerary and for details on the different itineraries please go to itineraries section at the top of the page.
